Cummins' high-horsepower engine business in China has accelerated again. At the bauma CHINA 2024 Shanghai Construction Machinery Exhibition, Cummins' complete off-road hybrid chain debuted for the first time. Among them, the "50-liter engine oil-electric hybrid solution" that replaced the original 60-liter engine pure fuel solution has doubled the improvement in power performance and efficiency, and was described by terminal mining users as "taking off from the spot."

The NTH260 hybrid mining truck equipped with this power was successfully put into use in early 2024. In more than half a year, this 236-ton mining truck has run for more than 1,500 hours without any failure. Compared with traditional fuel-powered mining trucks of the same level, it saves about 20% of fuel and reduces the fuel cost of each vehicle by 800,000 yuan - this means that if it is operated at full load all year round in a general mine, the conservative estimate of the fuel saving cost will exceed 1 million yuan.

As the world's largest independent engine manufacturer with a 105-year history, Cummins has successfully gone through several rounds of product and technology changes. This experience has allowed Cummins to continuously break through the ceiling with "innovation" and lay out the next round of leadership in advance; on the other hand, this American company has formed a very pragmatic formal logic and is willing to use more resources to continuously solve and meet the core needs of users.

Cummins, which has been deeply rooted in China for nearly 50 years, established its first office in Beijing in 1979. With this as a starting point, Cummins kicked off the prelude to localized production in China - the starting point is Chongqing.

In 1981, Chongqing Engine Factory began to produce Cummins engines under license; Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. was established in 1995; it is still the only high-horsepower engine manufacturing base of Cummins in China. Today, with Chongqing Cummins as an important fulcrum, Cummins China's high-horsepower engine product line has derived four mature high-horsepower power platforms - including 19-liter, 38-liter, 50-liter and 60-liter products and related solutions. What is more noteworthy is that these mature high-horsepower power platforms not only include Cummins's "diesel engines" that have always maintained an absolute leading position, but also include new energy engines such as methanol and hybrid engines.

Engines, especially high-horsepower engines, have always been regarded as typical technology-intensive industries in the global industry; the complete product line, the ever-expanding user base and market share demonstrate Cummins' strong system capabilities and profound technical reserves.

Data shows that in the first half of 2024, Chongqing Cummins' output value increased by 31% year-on-year; and the monthly sales records in May and June also set a record high. Since the establishment of the joint venture in 1995, Chongqing Cummins has accumulated sales of 54 billion yuan. Obviously, from the most intuitive data, as the wind in China's mining equipment field expands, Cummins' high-horsepower engines are becoming the "trump card" among them.
