On April 18, 2023, the Chongqing Cummins photovoltaic project was officially put into operation. Jenny Bush, President of Cummins Power System Division, Xiang Yongdong, General Manager of Cummins Power System China, Yuan Jun, General Manager of Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. and other guests jointly lit the energy column of Chongqing Cummins photovoltaic system and officially launched the operation of photovoltaic projects.
The Chongqing Cummins photovoltaic project installed a total of 8,491 photovoltaic panels, covering an area of up to 22,000 square meters. Using the photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of the factory building to directly convert solar radiation energy into electrical energy, the instantaneous power generated by the Chongqing Cummins photovoltaic system can reach up to 3500kW, which is close to half of the total power load of the factory area, providing a stable production and operation for the new base of Chongqing Cummins Strong support; the project has a total installed capacity of 4.7 megawatts, an annual power generation of 3.22 million kwh, and can reduce carbon emissions by 1,900 tons per year, which is equivalent to adding about 1,050 new trees to the earth every year.
Yuan Jun, general manager of Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., said: As a green energy that is gradually being widely used, solar energy applications will play an important role in Cummins PLANET 2050 strategy. The official operation of Chongqing Cummins photovoltaic system will bring a major upgrade to the company's energy saving and emission reduction. In the future, Chongqing Cummins will continue to make unremitting efforts to continuously reduce the carbon footprint of production operations and product emissions through operational optimization and technological innovation, and provide assistance for the realization of carbon neutrality.
One earth, one homeland, environmental protection is one of the three major focus areas of Cummins' corporate responsibility. In the face of the world's climate challenges, Cummins has been forging ahead. At the beginning of 2022, Cummins China will launch the first phase of the solar photovoltaic project. Up to now, 6 projects have completed grid-connected power generation, and the other 3 projects are expected to complete grid-connected power generation in May. After the completion of the nine projects in the first phase of solar energy, about 280 million kWh of power generation can be realized within 20 years, reducing about 158,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions. This project will have a very big effect on environmental protection!
